Steak & Blue Cheese Pizza – Spice up your pizza game with this steak and blue cheese pizza! Fresh pizza dough is topped with marinara, fresh mozzarella, caramelized red onions, grilled steak and blue cheese to make a dinner that is unforgettable!

Steak & Blue Cheese Pizza on a cookie sheetHappy Monday!! Did you have an amazing weekend? Watch any football? I watched more pro football this weekend than I’ve probably watched in the last couple of years. I’m a college football girl. But the Atlanta Falcons are in the NFC Championship so I gotta keep watching!!

Now, I know you can agree with me with me when I say pizza is the perfect and easiest food to make for some football watching. But if you’re like me, sometimes you like to get a little crazy with your pizza. That’s why I love making my own pizza at home – I can make it whatever pizza flavor I want!

Today’s recipe is for one of the most flavorful pizzas I’ve ever made at home: steak & blue cheese pizza.

Closeup of the Steak & Blue Cheese Pizza Steak & Blue Cheese Pizza with blue cheese crumbles and caramelized onions

I am such a sucker for anything with steak and blue cheese. If there’s a steak salad on the menu, I am almost guaranteed to order it. There’s just something about the sharp cheese, tender steak, and some yummy balsamic dressing that I just can’t say no too. Add some caramelized red onions and it’s just perfection.

This pizza has a few steps but it’s so simple to make. And since I use store-bought dough and marinara, it’s even easier! I’ll give you some tips on where to find fresh pizza dough below. The only thing you need to prep ahead are the onions and the steak.

The onions are such a game-changer in this recipe. The balsamic vinegar adds an extra layer of flavor during caramelization. And they only take 10 minutes to prep. You really can’t make this pizza without them.

You can cook the steak on the grill but it was super cold the day I made this pizza so I cooked it on the stove. If that’s what you decide to do, too, make sure the pan is super hot so you get a gorgeous crust on the outside. But be careful! This may cause the pan to smoke a little so turn the fan on and/or open the windows.

Here are some extra tips for making this pizza for yourself at home:

  1. Like I said above, I bought fresh pizza dough instead of making my own. You can find fresh pizza dough in your local grocery store, usually near the bakery or at a pizza shop. Pizza shops will usually sell a ball of fresh dough for a few dollars.
  2. Speaking of the dough, don’t skip the step where we let the dough come to room temperature. If you try to roll out the dough when it’s still cold, you’ll find that it’s almost impossible. It’s much more malleable when it’s warmer.
  3. I know some people are iffy about blue cheese. If that’s you, you can easily switch out the blue cheese for feta cheese or Parmesan flakes.
  4. You do not want to forget to add the Worcestershire sauce to the marinara sauce – it deepens the flavor of the marinara and helps it pair perfectly with the other flavors of the pizza. Trust me.
  5. Do not add too much marinara sauce to the dough. Otherwise, it will make the dough too soggy. And with all the ingredients on this pizza, that’s the last thing we want. You should only add a thin layer of sauce, where you can still see the dough.
  6. This pizza can get messy when you’re eating it, so I suggest eating this with a knife and fork.

Alright, guys! I hope you love this pizza! What other crazy pizzas do you love to make at home? Let me know in the comments below.

Steak and Blue Cheese Pizza

Spice up your pizza game with this steak and blue cheese pizza! Fresh pizza dough is topped with marinara, fresh mozzarella, caramelized red onions, grilled steak and blue cheese to make a dinner that is unforgettable!
Prep Time10 minutes mins
Cook Time35 minutes mins
Total Time45 minutes mins
Servings: 1 large pizza

Ingredients

  • 1 red onion sliced
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella
  • 1 pound skirt steak or flank steak
  • 1/4 cup blue cheese crumbles
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze (to drizzle on top)
  • 1 ball fresh pizza dough from bakery or pizza shop (let it sit outside fridge for 1 hour before using)
  • salt and pepper , to taste

Instructions

  • If your pizza dough is currently in the fridge, remove from plastic bag and place in oiled bowl. Let it sit outside at room temperature while we prepare the other ingredients. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Add sliced onions to large saute pan set to medium heat, along with balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Cook until softened and slightly caramelized, about 10 minutes. After they finish cooking, add a little salt, to taste. Place in separate bowl and set aside.
  • Add a little more oil to same saute pan and cook steak on medium- high. Once you get a good color on the bottom of the steak, flip it over to cook on the other side (about 5 minutes). Take steak off when it reaches 125 degrees. Place on cutting board and cover with foil for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
  • Slice mozzarella into 1/2 inch slices. Set aside. Add 1/4 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce to 1 cup of marinara sauce. This will give it a deeper flavor that is perfect with the steak. Set aside
  • Grab a large baking sheet. Place room-temperature pizza dough on baking sheet. If it's slightly cool, that's ok. But it should not be straight from the fridge. Begin rolling out dough into an oval until it is the desired thickness. Use your fingers to place dimples all over dough. This will keep the center of the crust from rising too high during baking. Add a very thin layer of the prepared marinara sauce on top of the dough. You should be able to see the dough through the sauce.
  • Sprinkle 1/2 of the onions over the sauce. Place fresh mozzarella all over pizza. The slices should not be touching. Don't worry - it will melt and spread to fill the gaps. Bake pizza in preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, until the mozzarella just begins to bubble.
  • While pizza is baking, slice the steak into very very thin slices and re-cover with the foil.
  • Remove pizza from oven. Place sliced steak all over pizza. Top with the rest of the onions. Sprinkle with blue cheese crumbles. Place back in oven for 5 minutes, just to melt the blue cheese a little.
  • Remove from oven and drizzle pizza with balsamic glaze. Cut into 8 slices and serve! This pizza is messy so it's best to eat with fork and knife.

This easy homemade turkey noodle soup is the PERFE This easy homemade turkey noodle soup is the PERFECT way to use leftover Thanksgiving turkey! It's light, comforting, loaded with veggies and egg noodles, and ready in just 30-40 minutes. Way better than another turkey sandwich!

Why you'll LOVE this soup:
✨ Uses leftover turkey (or rotisserie chicken!)
✨ Ready in 30-40 minutes
✨ Light but still comforting
✨ Fresh herbs add amazing flavor
✨ Secret ingredient: lemon juice!
✨ Freezes perfectly for up to 6 months

Here's what makes this soup special: fresh herbs (thyme and oregano) add a brightness you can't get from canned soup, and a splash of lemon juice at the end totally transforms it! I was so surprised by how much the lemon brightened up the whole bowl. You'll never make turkey/chicken soup without it again!

This is the PERFECT post-Thanksgiving recipe - light enough after all that heavy holiday eating, but still cozy and comforting for cold nights. Plus, it uses up those turkey leftovers in the best way possible!

Pro tips:
🔸 Works with chicken too (rotisserie is perfect!)
🔸 Use any pasta noodles you like
🔸 Prep veggies ahead to save 10 minutes
🔸 Add 1-2 cups water if you want it more brothy
🔸 Serve with crusty French bread!

The soup is noodle-heavy as written, but you can easily adjust the broth amount to your preference. I love it loaded with noodles - makes it extra hearty! And don't forget that crusty bread for dunking!
