Avocado Lime Sorbet – Made with only three ingredients, this avocado lime sorbet is shockingly refreshing and unbelievably creamy. It’s going to be your new favorite summer treat!

Two cones of Avocado Lime SorbetHow have you been spending #NationalIceCreamMonth so far? Have you tried out these chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches yet? I froze all the sandwiches I made for the blog and have slowly been chipping away at the inventory. Oh and I still have about 3 quarts of ice cream leftover to eat. Someone come help me!

Today I am bringing you guys another treat to try out this month. But this one is a little less chocolate and a little more fruit. Yup, you guessed it – it’s a sorbet!! But this sorbet is unlike any other that you’ve ever tried. It’s unbelievably creamy, tart, and refreshing all at the same time. Oh and it’s made with avocado.

Before you judge it, you have to TRUST ME. I turned my nose up at it the first time I saw it – how good could this possibly taste? Avocado is savory, not sweet. Wrong, my friend. So wrong.

Avocado + Lime = One Killer Combo

And it’s oh so creamy.  Creamier than an ice cream I’ve ever made. Seriously!

I first tried this sorbet at an Ice Cream Social last month, where local restaurants make special ice cream flavors and you vote on your favorite. AKA my heaven. All the ticket proceeds go towards charity so you can feel even better about gorging on ice cream!

One booth had this Avocado Lime Sorbet and Fruity Pebbles Ice Cream. Honestly, we made our way to that booth for the Fruity Pebbles Ice Cream, but I decided to give the Avocado Lime Sorbet a shot, because why not??

This sorbet BLEW. MY. MIND.

Was it the incredible creamy texture, despite having zero dairy? Was it the perfect way the avocado paired with the tart lime? Was it fact that is only had 3 ingredients – lime, avocado, sugar? It was all three!!!

Top view of two Avocado Lime Sorbet cones Scooping out Avocado Lime Sorbet from a metal tub

So how easy is this sorbet to make? Incredibly easy!! But you will need an ice cream maker. I know that might be annoying if you don’t have one. But honestly, mine was only about $40 and I use it all the time. Homemade ice cream is sooo much fun to do because you can make fun recipes that you won’t find in stores. And it only takes minutes to freeze the ice cream!

Plus, there may be another special frozen treat that we make together later this month that requires the ice cream maker so you’ll easily have another use for it.

Okay so after you’ve got your ice cream maker, here are the steps for making the sorbet:

  1. Blend ingredients together until smooth. The consistency should be a little runnier than yogurt. It was so creamy that I could have eaten it in this state but I stayed strong and held off for the frozen stuff.
  2. Chill the mixture until cold.
  3. Place mixture in ice cream maker and freeze.
  4. Enjoy!

See how simple it is?! All sorbets are pretty easy to make so hopefully this inspires you to make more at home. Some of my favorites are pineapple, peach, and mango sorbet.

If you’re still nervous about making a sorbet for the first time, here are some tips to help you out:

  1. If this is your first time using an ice cream maker, read the instructions of your machine before starting. My machine requires the base to be frozen about 8 hours before using. I usually keep mine in the freezer at all times so I don’t have to wait for it to freeze.
  2. Make sure you give the blended mix a taste before you chill it. This is your opportunity to make the flavor exactly what you want it to be. Add more lime juice or sugar to make it perfectly your own.
  3. Avocados turn green when exposed to oxygen. But the lime juice will stop this a little. Just to be safe, place a layer of plastic wrap on top of the blended mixture so it doesn’t turn green while it chills. If it does turn green, it will only be on the top layer, not the whole mixture. Note: it won’t turn green once frozen so it will be fine when it’s in the freezer.
  4. Once the sorbet is made, you can enjoy right away or freeze to harden a little more. However, once frozen for a few hours, it will become hard to scoop. So I let it thaw on the counter for 15 minutes before enjoying.

Ok guys – there you have it! Another great treat to enjoy for #NationalIceCreamMonth! What other kinds of treats are you enjoying this month? I am always looking for new ice cream recipes. Let me know in the comments below!

Here are all the kitchen tools and serveware that I used in today’s recipe. For each item sold below, I make a small commission. I only recommend items that I own and love so you can trust that each recommendation is tried and true. Thank you for supporting CPA!

Avocado Lime Sorbet

Made with only three ingredients, this avocado lime sorbet is shockingly refreshing and unbelievably creamy. It's going to be your new favorite summer treat!
Prep Time10 minutes mins
Total Time2 hours hrs 10 minutes mins
Servings: 1 quart

Ingredients

  • 4 medium avocados
  • 1/3 cup fresh lime juice about 1 1/2 limes
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  • Place metal loaf pan into freezer to chill. Remove flesh of avocados and place into a blender. Add lime juice, water, and sugar. Blend until completely combined. Give the mixture a taste. If you want more lime flavor, add some zest or some extra juice.
  • Place mixture into a medium bowl. Take a piece of plastic wrap and place it directly onto the mixture. This will keep the mixture from turning brown. Place in fridge to chill for 2 hours so it's nice and cold.
  • Once avocado mixture is cold, it's ready for the ice cream machine. Follow the instructions on your ice cream machine to turn this into sorbet. It should only take about 5-10 minutes to freeze. Once frozen, it's thick enough to eat now or you can place in the metal loaf pan to harden even more, if you prefer. I like mine ultra creamy so I eat it right away. Enjoy!

Now this is an amazing find. Most ‘nice cream’ recipes call for bananas, which I absolutely can’t stand, so I haven’t tried any. I’ve been amazed here lately at how many ways avocados can replace bananas for me! Thanks so much, pinning for later so I can try it!

Ahh you’re so right! I’m a little weary of banana nice creams because banana is such an overwhelming flavor so it would be hard to overcome, I think. So I think this is a great alternative! I hope you love it!

The Pumpkin Cheesecake Macaron! Pumpkin butter i The Pumpkin Cheesecake Macaron!

Pumpkin butter is just like apple butter – a spreadable puree of deliciousness with tons of spices – but made with pumpkin puree instead of apple (duh). I've seen pumpkin butter sold in stores (near the jams and jellies) but it wasn't available at my store yet.

So I just made my own using a recipe from Skinnytaste. I only made a half-batch and it was more than enough!

Side note: I've been using the leftover pumpkin butter to flavor my coffee in the mornings. Just a teaspoon goes a long way!

Why these are special: These macarons are so delicate, yet chewy and BEYOND flavorful, you guys! Move over, pumpkin spice latte, there's a new favorite pumpkin treat in town!

These are restaurant-quality French cookies you can make at home! Yes, they take some practice and attention to detail, but they're SO worth it! The "wow" factor alone is incredible, and they taste even better than they look!

They're chewy, chocolatey, minty, have a layer of buttercream, and a nice dollop of fudge on top. I decided 4 words were the max I could use when naming them so I settled on mint chocolate fudge cookies!

Mint cookies have long been a love of mine, whether it's a thin mint or mint cookie ice cream. I love the duo of chocolate and mint together, but it is EVEN better when the chocolate is in the form of a cookie!

March tends to be the unofficial month of mint because of St. Patrick's Day and the Shamrock Shake at McDonald's making its annual appearance this time of year. So I had to give you a fun, new mint cookie to celebrate these flavors!

Perfect for St. Patrick's Day parties, cookie exchanges, gifts for mint chocolate lovers, or any time you want to impress with a stunning cookie!
