Healthy Waldorf Salad – This classic salad of apples, grapes, walnuts, and celery is given a healthy makeover with the substitution of mayo with Greek yogurt.

Healthy Waldorf Salad on a bed of lettuce

Now that spring is here, I am craving tons of salads: pasta salad, fruit salad, broccoli salad – you name it! We had salads left over from Easter and, on more than one occasion, I served up a plate of various salads to eat for lunch and/or dinner. I was in heaven.

To honor my craving this time of year, I have one of my favorite fruit salads to share with you all. I’ve been making this Healthy Waldorf Salad since college. I have always loved the combination of the refreshing tangy dressing with apples, grapes, and celery and the slight saltiness (and extra crunch!) from the walnuts.

But what exactly makes this a “healthy” version, you ask? Simple – all I do is replace the mayonnaise in the classic recipe with plain nonfat Greek yogurt. Fun fact: I didn’t start making it “healthy” for the sake of being healthy. Nope, I actually starting using Greek yogurt because the idea of mixing fruit with mayo wasn’t appetizing to me. And after I tried it, I just loved the extra tang from the Greek yogurt so that’s what I’ve been doing ever since.

To make this salad, it’s incredibly easy. No cooking, very little prep, and its ready in less than 15 minutes. Could you ask for anything better?!

First, I make the dressing a large bowl by simply stirring together Greek yogurt, sour cream, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. The combination of lemon juice and Greek yogurt make for a perfectly tangy dressing. But if you want it more on the sweet side, you can add some honey. Or even use vanilla Greek yogurt!

After the dressing is ready, toss in the diced apples, halved grapes, and thinly sliced celery.

Bowl of cut grapes, apples and celery

Now, all you gotta do is toss everything together and finish with toasted walnuts. If you want more sweetness, you can use candied walnuts.

I’m now realizing that I’m giving tons of tips on how to make this healthy salad more sweet. I just can’t stay away from the sweets, you guys!

Because I cannot write a post without helpful tips, here are a few that will help you with this recipe:

  1. I like big chunks of apples in this salad so I recommend cutting them in a large dice instead of finely dicing them. This will keep them nice and firm in the dressing.
  2. Celery can be an overwhelming ingredient in raw dishes. So make sure it’s finely sliced so you get hints of it instead of big chunks.
  3. I used raw walnuts in this recipe, which can have a bland taste. Therefore, I had to toast and season them before adding to the salad. You can buy yours already toasted and seasoned if you don’t want to do this step.

And that’s all there is! I hope you enjoy this healthy take on one of my favorite salads! What other salads are you loving this season? Let me know in the comments below!

Healthy Waldorf Salad

This classic salad of apples, grapes, walnuts, and celery is given a healthy makeover with the substitution of mayo with Greek yogurt.
Prep Time15 minutes mins
Total Time15 minutes mins
Servings: 8 servings

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • honey optional
  • 2 large golden delicious apples
  • 1 cup red seedless grapes
  • 4 stalks celery
  • 1/2 cup walnut halves

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, whisk Greek yogurt, sour cream, and lemon juice together until combined. Add a pinch of salt and pepper and give the dressing a taste. If you need more seasoning, add some. If you want to get rid of a bit of the tang, add a little honey. I prefer it tangy, though.
  • Dice apples into big chunks and add to bowl with the dressing. Halve grapes and add to bowl. Thinly slice celery and measure out 1 cup. Add to bowl. Toss to combine with dressing.
  • Place salad on serving platter and top with walnut halves. Serve immediately.

I really love the substitution of yogurt for the mayo! Mayo is totally a weird ingredient to put in a fruit salad! Definitely giving this a try! Great idea!

I love how you made this Waldorf salad healthy, the thought of mayo with fruit isn’t appealing to me either but I love the yogurt and sour cream idea.

There is honestly nothing better than the smell of There is honestly nothing better than the smell of fresh bread filling the house, and this Rosemary Olive Oil Focaccia is my absolute favorite to bake. 🍞🌿

I used to be so intimidated by yeast, but I’ve tried this specific recipe several times now, and it is foolproof. It’s crispy on the bottom, fluffy on the inside, and those little dimples filled with olive oil are everything.

My kids love getting involved with this one. I let them help with the "dimpling" part—pressing their fingers into the dough is basically like edible playdough to them!

Do your kids play with this type of craft? Mine are obsessed, and it’s a great way to get them excited about being in the kitchen.

Whether you’re serving it with dinner or just snacking on it warm from the oven, you have to try this.

If you’re a fan of dessert for breakfast, you ha If you’re a fan of dessert for breakfast, you have to try this Berries & Cream Stuffed French Toast Casserole.

I’m usually more of a savory breakfast person, but I tried this recipe recently and it’s basically like having cheesecake for brunch. The best part? Unlike most French toast casseroles, you don’t have to let this one sit in the fridge overnight. You just assemble and pop it straight into the oven.

I actually made a batch of this while we were hanging out at home last Sunday. The house smelled incredible, and even though it looks fancy, it was so low-stress. My kids are obsessed with anything that involves berries and "dip," so this was a massive hit. Do your kids play with this type of craft? (Mine are obsessed—though their "crafting" usually involves trying to pick all the blackberries out before it hits the table!)

If you’re looking for the ultimate weeknight com If you’re looking for the ultimate weeknight comfort food, this is it. 🍝✨

I recently tried this Baked Chicken Spaghetti and it is a total game-changer. Most recipes I see are overloaded with cheese that just adds fat without flavor, but this one is different. It’s incredibly creamy and relies on a base of browned chicken bits, onions, and garlic to give it a really deep, savory taste.

The best part? It’s a one-pot meal (if your braising dish is big enough!), which makes cleanup so much faster. I’ve found that it’s the perfect way to use up any leftover chicken you might have in the fridge, too.

I’m curious—do your kids play with this type of craft? Mine are obsessed. (Wait, I mean... do your kids eat everything you put in front of them? Mine can be picky, but they absolutely inhaled this pasta!)

If you are looking for the perfect signature drink If you are looking for the perfect signature drink for your next holiday gathering, this is it. 🥂

I’ve tried quite a few seasonal cocktails, but this Holiday Mule is a standout because it brings in those crisp flavors of apple cider and cranberry without being overly sweet. The addition of Prosecco really levels it up from a standard mule—it adds a lightness that makes it so refreshing.

I love that it’s simple enough to make in a single copper mug but looks impressive enough for a big party. I’m curious, do you have a go-to garnish for your holiday drinks? I’m personally obsessed with the rosemary and cinnamon stick combo used here; it makes the whole house smell like Christmas! 🎄

These Homemade Bagels are SO good, you'll never wa These Homemade Bagels are SO good, you'll never want to toast them again!

Y'all, I tried making bagels years ago and they were... not great. But after tons of research and a second attempt, these came out PERFECT! Chewy inside, crispy shiny shell outside, and that authentic bagel flavor you crave. They're honestly better than the bagel shop!

Here's what makes them amazing:
✨ Overnight rise = maximum chewiness
✨ Barley malt syrup = that signature flavor
✨ Boiling water bath = shiny crust
✨ Pizza stone = perfect texture

The secret? It's all about the process! The dough rises slowly overnight, gets a quick bath in boiling baking soda water (just like pretzels!), then bakes on a pizza stone for that perfect crispy exterior. The result is bagel shop quality at home!

Pro tips:
🍞 Use bread flour for that chewy texture
🌙 Let them rise overnight (patience = perfection!)
🔥 Pizza stone is a game-changer
🥯 Don't skip the barley malt syrup!

The best part? Fresh bagels warm from the oven need ZERO toasting. The crust is already perfectly crispy and the inside is so soft and chewy. Spread on some cream cheese and you're in bagel heaven!

Ready to make bagel shop quality at home? Comment "BAGELS" below and I'll send the full recipe straight to your DMs!
